Bachelors degree in art 2000 art works can be found in Afrika Europe and America . Currently working with Bark Cloth(Olubugo) a natural fabric attained from the bark of the Emituba tree found in Uganda. Olubugo has a historical aspect among the Baganda people who used it as an alternative fabric for making wrapper(cloth),beddings and also wrapping the deceased on their journey to the next life. Ideally its spiritual value was highly upheld among the Baganda people to present day. The Olubugo can be used as an alternative to canvas by painters due to its varying textures and unique lasting capabilities when well handled to create effects when colour is applied. The themes I execute on this fabric are an Art form which is Afrikan in outlook and figuratively reminiscent of the Old stone age cave paintings found on the walls of old caves in Afrika. A combination of the spiritual aspect of the fabric and an art style reflecting the original stone age Art fused in a creatively abstract mode in preservation of our heritage. Current Project; (The Northern Uganda War) The Artist has made seven Murals of approximately two metres each in oil and mixed media showing the current war that is existing in Northern Uganda where human life has under gone an un noticed genocide at the hands of the governments reaction to a small rebel force for over twenty years now. Using the Art to bring to the world the existence of the traumatised people living in squalid conditions, the suffering of an innocent people who have fled their homes to seek refuge in camps living a day at time surviving the atrocities of the degradation of human life. Through Art, my mission is to bring forth to the world about the existence of this war and the dire need to create an understanding with the international community to step up the pressure and undertake measures to end the suffering of the people of northern Uganda. An Art exhibition highlighting this cause will take place late this year where by the works of art dedicated to this cause will be show cased together with stories collected form the war ravaged region. Where the bullets have failed, let Art prevail to champion the cause for a call for Peace in Northern Uganda. More Art work can be viewed on: www.galleri-bisart.dk/gecko
